Welcome to Marte Jacobsen Studio.

Here you will find information about the terms that apply when purchasing digital knitting patterns from me. I want shopping here to be simple and secure, and for you to know what to expect when you purchase a pattern.

1. About these Terms of Service

These Terms of Service apply when you purchase digital knitting patterns from Marte Jacobsen Studio through the online store.

When you complete a purchase, you enter into an agreement with Marte Jacobsen Studio. These Terms of Service, the information provided about the individual pattern, and your order together form the basis of the agreement.

These terms have been prepared with reference to the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act (angrerettloven), the Norwegian Digital Services Act (digitalytelsesloven), and other relevant consumer protection legislation.

Marte Jacobsen Studio is a small Norwegian design business, and I am the person behind both the patterns and the online store.

If you have any questions about a pattern, a purchase, or anything else, you are always welcome to contact me.

3. What do I sell?

Marte Jacobsen Studio sells knitting patterns as digital PDF files.

This means that you will not receive a physical product by post. Once your purchase has been completed and the payment approved, you will be given access to the pattern you purchased.

You will receive information about the download by email, including a link to the file or files.

Patterns may be available in Norwegian and/or English, depending on the product you purchase. This will be stated in the product description.

The images in the online store are intended to give the best possible representation of the pattern and finished garment. Please note, however, that colours may appear slightly different from one screen to another.

4. Prices

Prices in the online store are set in Norwegian kroner (NOK). If you select another currency using the currency selector, prices may be displayed converted into your selected currency.

The price and currency displayed when you complete your purchase are the price and currency that apply to your order.

I reserve the right to correct typographical or pricing errors. If there is an obvious error that you knew, or reasonably should have understood, was an error, the purchase may be cancelled.

5. When does the purchase become binding?

Once you have completed your order, you will receive an order confirmation by email.

The purchase becomes binding when the order has been completed and confirmed.

However, if there is an obvious typographical, input, or pricing error that you reasonably should have understood was an error, the purchase may be cancelled.

6. Payment

Payment is made when you place your order using the payment methods available in the online store at the time of purchase.

You will be provided with information about the available payment methods and any applicable costs before completing your purchase.

7. Delivery of the pattern

These are digital patterns, so delivery takes place digitally rather than by post.

Once payment has been completed and approved, the pattern will be made available for download.

You will also receive an email with information and a link to the pattern.

Please make sure that you enter the correct email address when placing your order.

If you do not receive your pattern, the link does not work, or you experience any other problems with the download, please contact me. I will do my best to help you.

8. Right of withdrawal

When purchasing online, you generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal.

When you purchase digital content such as a PDF pattern, your right of withdrawal may be lost if delivery begins before the withdrawal period has expired.

For the right of withdrawal to be lost, before delivery begins you must expressly consent to the delivery of the digital content beginning before the withdrawal period has expired and acknowledge that you will thereby lose your right of withdrawal.

This consent is given as part of the purchasing process.

Confirmation of your consent and the loss of your right of withdrawal will be provided to you after the purchase has been completed.

If you do not provide such consent, the pattern cannot be delivered until the withdrawal period has expired.

If the right of withdrawal applies to your purchase, you may exercise it by notifying me clearly by email within the withdrawal period.

If you have not received the information about the right of withdrawal required by law before making your purchase, the withdrawal period may be extended in accordance with the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act.

9. If you find an error in the pattern

I do my best to ensure that my patterns are carefully prepared and easy to follow. Unfortunately, mistakes can happen – even in knitting patterns.

If you discover an error or find that something in the pattern does not work as it should, I would very much appreciate you contacting me.

Where possible, I will correct the error and make sure that you have access to an updated version of the pattern.

If there is a defect that is not remedied in accordance with applicable rules, you may be entitled to a price reduction, termination of the contract, or other remedies under the Norwegian Digital Services Act (digitalytelsesloven).

Minor differences in colour reproduction, design choices, or other subjective or stylistic considerations do not necessarily constitute a defect.

Nothing in these Terms of Service limits any rights you have under applicable law.

10. Patterns and copyright

When you purchase a pattern, you are granted a personal right to use the pattern for your own knitting project.

The patterns, texts, images, charts, and PDF files are my intellectual property and are protected by Norwegian copyright law.

You may, of course:

  • download and save the pattern you have purchased

  • use it to knit the garment or product

  • knit items for your own use

  • sell finished, handmade garments or products that you have personally made using the pattern

If you sell a finished product made using one of my patterns, I greatly appreciate it if you credit Marte Jacobsen Studio as the pattern designer, preferably with a link to the online store or the pattern.

Permission to sell finished products applies to small-scale, handmade production. It does not grant permission for mass production, factory production, or production by third parties without a written agreement with Marte Jacobsen Studio.

You may not:

  • share the PDF file with others

  • send the pattern to friends or other people

  • upload it to websites, Facebook groups, or other platforms

  • copy, publish, or sell the pattern

  • use images, text, or charts from the pattern as your own material

If you would like to share a pattern with someone you think might enjoy it, I would of course be very happy if you direct them to the online store instead.

11. Privacy

When you shop at Marte Jacobsen Studio, certain personal data is processed so that I can complete your purchase, deliver the pattern, and manage your order.

I process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.

12. Complaints

If there is anything you are unhappy with, I hope you will contact me first.

I would always prefer to resolve any issues directly with you in a friendly and straightforward way.

If we are unable to reach a solution, you may contact the Norwegian Consumer Council (Forbrukerrådet) or the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet) for guidance about your rights.

13. Governing law

The agreement is governed by Norwegian law.

If you live in another EEA country, you retain any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection rules applicable in the country where you live, where such rules apply.
