The Backless Dress

Brief overview / tips:

The dress is knitted in two separate parts, with the top and skirt assembled at the end.

The top comes in 7 sizes, while the skirt comes in 3 sizes, as the waist can be adjusted with elastic. Choose the combination that suits you best.

The top is worked from the top down with raglan increases.

The skirt is worked from the bottom up, with evenly distributed decreases, pockets, and finally a hem. The dress features eyelet borders along the edges and raglan sections.

The belt is knitted last.

The length can be adjusted as desired, depending on where you want the skirt to sit at the waist.

Skirt:

Waist circumference: 60–80 (80–100) 100–120 cm

Length: 50–60 (64) 70 cm

The model in the photo usually wears a size M and is wearing the top in size 3 with approx. 10 cm of positive ease. The skirt is size 1.

Yarn requirements:

The dress is knitted with 1 strand of Summer Wool from Pickles.no (175 m/50 g).

The yarn requirements are calculated for the following combinations:

Skirt size 1 + top sizes 1–3
Skirt size 2 + top sizes 3–4
Skirt size 3 + top sizes 5–7

Summer Wool: 400 (450) 500 (650) 650 (700) 750 g

Suggested needles:

3.5 mm circular needles, 40, 60 and 80 cm

3 mm needles for the belt – double-pointed needles or use the magic loop technique

2 stitch holders for knitting the hem

Gauge:

20 stitches x 31 rows = 10 x 10 cm
