Priscilla Skirt

Brief overview / tips:

The skirt is knitted bottom-up using 4.5 or 5 mm needles. Decreases are worked at each side before knitting the folded waistband. The waistband is then folded and joined, enclosing an elastic band on the inside. (The elastic should be a maximum of 2.5 cm wide and 2 cm shorter than your waist measurement.) Be careful not to bind off too tightly. The loop stitch round is worked using only the mohair yarn.

The skirt has a lot of stretch. You should have approximately 15–20 cm of negative ease around the hips, meaning the garment should measure 15–20 cm less than your hip circumference.

The model in the photos is wearing size 3 with approximately 18 cm of negative ease.

Yarn requirements:

It is perfectly fine to use leftover yarn for the entire skirt.

Main yarn: Wool yarn with 100–115 m/50 g. (It does not have to be from the same dye lot.)

Loop stitch: Mohair yarn with 100 m/50 g, or several strands of thinner mohair held together. The stated yarn quantities are based on using one strand of 100 m/50 g.

Wool yarn, approx.: 85 (95) 100 (100) 120 (130) 150 g

Mohair, approx.: 70 (120) 135 (210) 220 (230) 240 g

Gauge:

16 stitches x 21 rows = 10 x 10 cm

Suggested needles:

4.5 mm and 3.5 mm circular needles for main yarn measuring 110 m or more per 50 g.

5 mm and 4.5 mm circular needles for main yarn measuring 100 m/50 g.

60 cm circular needle for sizes 1 and 2; the other sizes can use an 80 cm circular needle.
